How we handle the limited information involved in visiting substrate-labs.org. Last updated 13 July 2026.
Substrate Foundation ("Substrate," "we," "us") operates substrate-labs.org (the "Site"). We are an independent non-profit research lab, and the Site is informational: it has no accounts, logins, or e-commerce. This policy explains what limited information we handle when you visit.
Information you give us. If you email us (for example, at peterli@substrate-labs.org), we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to respond to you.
Information collected automatically. Our host, Vercel, records standard aggregated analytics (such as pages viewed, approximate region, and device or browser type) to help us understand Site traffic. This is privacy-oriented and is not used to identify you personally. The Site also loads fonts served by Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of delivering those fonts.
Cookies. The Site does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
We use information to operate and improve the Site, to respond to enquiries, and to maintain security. We do not sell or rent personal information.
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site (for example, Vercel for hosting and analytics, and Google for fonts), or where required by law.
We keep email correspondence for as long as needed to address your enquiry and for reasonable record-keeping. Aggregated analytics are retained according to our host's defaults.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, email peterli@substrate-labs.org.
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
We operate from Canada. If you access the Site from elsewhere, your information may be processed in Canada and in other countries where our service providers operate.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
